Firefox 2

Sad to hear that Firefox 3 disappointed you. :(

Anyway, you can grab the most recent Firefox 2 build directly from the FTP servers at ftp://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...%202.0.0.14.exe

You're welcome (as a Firefox developer I know all the links anyway :P ).

The bug you mentioned is actually a performance issue with the latest version of Adobe Flash player (which ended up more pronounced in FF3). Adobe has a bug filed on it and are working on the problem. Very, very slowly. Seriously, it's about 100 times worse here on Linux. *glares at Adobe*

Will do. *pulls out long poking stick and starts prodding the Adobe developers*

Neopets Flash games and Adver-Video all rely on Adobe Flash player, so the performance bug in Flash player causes them all to mess up. Adobe should (hopefully) get this resolved soon.

What problem do you have exactly with the link to FF2?

The official page for downloading Firefox 2 is up. Go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

I -really- want an option to get rid of that annoying toolbar and go back to the basic one. I've noticed FF33 is quite a bit faster so I'd rather not go back to FF2, and it fixed the problem I was having with running coconut shy.

*Poke* Use our pretty official Mozilla page, which we somehow forgot to link to the rest of the site. :P

@Whacker101: Try the 'oldbar' extension here. It does pretty much what you want, and retains a decent amount of functionality as well.

I would still use oldapps. I love this site. I got my version of Windows Media Player from them. WMP 10 forever! I despise WMP 11.

Anyway, when in doubt, I would just search Google. Many websites, like Oldapps, hold onto releases for occasions like new version, which are always known for their bugs. If you find what you are looking for then don't let me keep talking.

PS: Shouldn't this be in the "Everything Computers: Help and Programming" forum?

I can't stand IE. I've been a Firefox nut for so long. It is the only thing that really works good on this PC. Firefox 2, has it's bugs and the fact that it ran away with my memory at times. But I am now disappointed that some of my plugins won't work in Firefox 3. But, it is only a matter of time before Firefox 3 is perfect. (BTW, did it break the download record?)

It did indeed, with more than 8 million downloads. ^_^

Plugins will probably be refitted to Firefox 3 within a few months. Nothing is very compatible when it first comes out. (I think Vista has thoroughly shown us this)

8 Million? Woww... That's a lot, I don't even think that many people pledged...

Actually, very few add-ons are broken with Firefox updates - we specifically try not to change the APIs too much. :) It's just that some plugin authors forget to update the compatibility data for their extensions, but this is normally corrected within a few days.
