Frozen after 6 1/2 years. For the stupidest of reasons. Cheer me up? :(

Oh, guys. I'm sorry that this is my first post here, and I'm only whining, but I just want to talk about this with people who really understand - other Neopets users. First wanted to post on the Neopets boards on my new account, but you can't even do that when you're account's younger than 24 hours.

 

I was just playing the group tasks for the Faerie's Ruin Plot, and I kept getting timeouts. I was a bit annoyed by that, and I thought I'd inform my teammates, but in my anger I dropped the f-word. (as in: "I keep getting those * time-outs.") I realized the moment I posted it that I couldn't do that, and first I only got an error saying I couldn't post inappropriate words etc. So I thought, phew, it didn't even let me post it anyways, so I'm good to go. But then, ten minutes later, I am suddenly automatically logged out, and when I try to log in again, I find myself in the worst case scenario: it says that my account is frozen.

 

The worst thing is: I know it's over. I didn't watch out for a second, and I broke the rules, and even if I think it's only human that something like that happens, I know that there is no chance I'm getting my account back. I mean, many people who are completely innocent don't get unfrozen after they keep begging TNT. This just sucks so much, because my account was... I don't even know, nearly seven years old, and I achieved so much. I don't even want to start thinking about it. (I started to replay some plot steps before, but it's not really fun. It just reminds me how much there is to redo and reachieve, and hey, the last time it took me over six years to get that far.) I wrote to TNT, but well, I think I could as well have saved the trouble.

 

So, of course, you can't help me (and I am by no means fishing for donations or whatever here, just to make that clear... money is the smallest part anyway, I just want my pets and my avatars back and everything...). But I could really use some cheering up. Has something like that ever happened to you, or are you more careful than I am? What did you do? Do you think it's justified that something like that can get you frozen?

Totally understand where you're coming from. My 8 year old account got frozen in the spring. It was during one of the Game challenges (daily dare or master's challenge. can't remember.) they said I was cheating on flash games. What I do when I have to get a really high score is play for a few seconds and if the game isn't going perfectly, exit and restart. They must have seen all these games being "played" in such a small space of time and decided I was a bot or something. Anyway, I emailed TNT a few times to no avail, so i started using one of my old side accounts as a main. I agree. it's not about getting the money back. i had a Christmas uni and a coconut jubjub on my account as well as about 250 avatars. That's the worst part of losing a main. Good luck trying to rebuild.

Lost my main after RoS plot and I cried for a whole evening and part of the next day, so I know it's aweful. :(

oh no, that's even worse, because you didn't even do anything wrong. Though I'm not sure if it's harder to take if it's just unfair or, like in my case, you know there's only yourself (and the -very- strict rules) to blame. Probably it comes down to the same, it's always bad. :(

Oh no, just after the plot... :( I know how that feels, too, because for Faerie's Ruin I spent all that time in the battledome even though I find it absolutely boring, and now it's all down the drain. The first challengers are gone and even if they weren't, my new pets wouldn't be strong enough yet, plus I have no money for battledome items.

May I ask why your account was frozen?

 

It's so strange... of course, I cried, too, when I first found out I was frozen, then stopped because was determined that there had to be a way to get my account back. After I wrote the e-mail to TNT, though, I realized that I was only fooling myself as there was really no chance - as it says on the evil "you're frozen" page: if you broke the rules, don't contact us again. But then I didn't start crying again, I just took it with resignation (and a good portion of resentment). I experienced the same thing not long ago when I lost (or thought I had lost...) a Pokémon savegame I had worked two months on - first cried a bit, then laughed about it because it was really so stupid (haha, it was an even stupider reason than my Neopets one). When I think of situations like that in my childhood, I would throw things and a tantrum, too... maybe I grew up a bit, after all :D

Aw it sucks that you lost your account :( I don't really post anywhere on neopets but instead throw my anger off at someone on msn or on these kind of forums, mainly because of this reason. They will freeze your account for anything these days.

 

Have you had a warning before? TNT always gives a warning before freezing someone for offensive language (at least I never heard of it happening at once before).

I've never lost any of my accounts, so I don't know how it feels. I'm sure you feel really, really sad, and very depressed. :(. But hang in there! If you're lucky, they'll reduce it to being silenced. Good Luck!

Oh, I REALLY hope so. I was wondering too why I didn't even get a warning, I've never done anything wrong before. :( (Or maybe this goes back to my newbie times? I sure can't remember.)

But then I understand even less why I instantly got frozen. And I don't know if they are really going to look at my e-mail individually. Well, I'll keep observing this...

Even though I was not guilty of it, TNT said I was cheating at flash game. Basically, I had 2 scores under review. One got reviewed and the other one got me frozen once reviewed. It was a score over 300 pts in Feed Florg. All I wanted was the avatar. :k

Yeouch! That's rather harsh. I've never lost an account either but I know I'd be devastated if I did...forget a days crying - it would be more like a weeks crying...followed by a months sulking! I'm not sure I could be bothered to rebuild though...after 7 years I wouldn't want to...

Wow. I feel so sorry for you! Although sorry when I say that I think neopets is just being an *** in some cases. If I were to lose my 6 and a half year old account over something stupid like that I'd never play neopets again to be honest o.0

What is the Frozen message you get when you try to log in? TNT should be telling you why you were frozen. Were you possibly frozen for reasons other than bad language?

This account was found to be posting inappropriate messages (ie: bad language, insults, chain letters, etc.) on the message boards, guild boards, or other site areas.

 

Otherwise, I probably wouldn't even have known what the hole thing is about... :P

When I was struck by a CG a while back and lost all my money, I seriously considered quitting neopets, so I can only imagine how awful it feels to actually lose a whole account due to something silly and inconsequential like that (and yes, those timeout things are EXTREMELY annoying)

 

Really scary to think how easily Neopets freezes accounts :(

That really sounds like TNT overreacting. I thought they were supposed to be silencing people for Neoboard/Neomail infractions. Hopefully, someone kind and reasonable will respond to your ticket.

I'm so sorry about your account. I really think you should send in a ticket. Like several have mentioned, that's what the silencing is for. It's not like you were scamming people. I hope you send in a ticket and they give your account back.

I'm so sorry, I feel terrible. Has something happened to you that's similar to that? I can't believe they would freeze you for a first offense. Especially since it didn't get posted. If you give them some time, and they can see you are genuinely upset, MAYBE they'll work with you. However ever since Viacom bought Neopets it has been going downhill :/ I wish I could do something to make you feel better, I definitely know how you feel. Good luck rebuilding. I hope you hear back from them.

Aww, that sucks. :( It's sad that TNT still suffers from such a large margin of error when it comes to taking action against people. In your case it seems like they failed to take the time to assess the situation properly. Perhaps a moderator kept getting timeouts and was in a bad mood?

It's true though, they go after people for silly reasons like this, and then there are other users who harrass people on the boards and deliberately break rules and brag about how many times they've been warned and suspended. It makes playing very frustrating at times.

first time I lost my account - I posted some anime picture on my userlookup .. the picture was of an angel woman holding a wounded/sick man ... as a tribute to my girlfriend at the time - my angel who saved my life when I was going through the worst of times .... but a few days later I was frozen for "SOLICITING AND PORNOGRAPHY" !!! I begged for months for my account back but no reply ... this was in 2003 ...

 

then I started over on an old forgotten account that would have been 10 1/2 yrs old now .... I played the Lost Desert Plot on it and gained a Ring of the Lost .. plus millions on NP's and a battle pet + 3 painted pets + lab map + MSSP avatar + i dont remember what else ..... and then I decided my pet was ready to play Defenders of Neopia .. I started refreshing like crazy for all opponents that need refreshing .. but while refreshing for Snow Beast in the Advent Calendar .. I got frozen for "using a program" !!! I was devastated I lost all interest in Neopets . this was in 2006 .......... i only came back to play Neopets in November 2008 ... but I play extra extra careful .. i rarely chat on the boards .. don't add random people as NF's .. don't try to refresh for anything .......

I don't chat on the boards because knowing them they'll ban me for something stupid. I try not to talk to ppl on neo although I do randomly add ppl as nf's (because it feels mean to just reject them) :P Other than that. Most of my socializing about neopets gets done right here
