The people who say that just aren't thinking straight, Neo was MASSIVE say 15 years ago, but, what competition did they have online then, what else did people have to do... My Space? Neo was the biggest thing out there so it was intensely busy. Of course the numbers have gone down since, but the fact is that it's still going strong now, despite enormous online competition for people's attention these days, that's what people need to be realising.

That does make me feel quite a bit better actually. xD

If it's any consolation, I get laughed at a -lot- between victories.

I don't like it, but I don't care enough to seek out boards to whine about it.  Thankfully i happened across this one in passing, so I can do a little whining without effort.  ?

Hello, I am pretty decent at the game, and I have been trying to get better for years. I think more than anything is understanding how much patients you truly need to get a good score. It may take over an hour or more to reach the avatar score. I don't think theres a quick solution here.  My strategy is to never let more than 4 mines on the board at one time, because you have less space/ direction to run if you need to and you dont want to be in a tight spot or accidentally run into them. Another thing I noticed is you don't want to play chicken with the mines. Obviously the closer you are to them the quicker you can pull them towards you and its quite tempting to want to quickly get them off the board, but I would advise against this because one small step and youre done for. It is much better to be patient and let mines slowly come together without you forcing the pull that way they can blow up a safe distance from you. Sometimes mines will spawn RIGHT ON YOU, it really sucks and quite bad luck, but if youre really quick you can move away before it registers to blow up. I've done this many times.  This is another reason to keep your board clear of mines just for those quick moves in any direction. I used to play fast and furious hoping I would somehow magically get good dubloons early on and it truly got me nowhere until i learned to slow down.  I dunno what other people do, but this method has worked for me! Drastic improvement on my score. Playing safe may be boring, but it works. 

Not sure when i started, I think was high school, so late 90s.   I don't think I kept up in college, certainly not later college years, and sort of forgot about it all.   About a year ago happened across a mention that sparked a sort of 'Oh hey, I remember that... is it even still around?'  So checked in, found my old accounts likely long gone, so made a new one, and have been enjoying myself since.
 

I feel invasive as I make this post to be quite honest but this is truly a mundane post. A digital message in a bottle, I think.
For a little bit of background, hello, I'm from the UK and I made a neopets account when I was around 6-7. I am 23 now. I never REALLY got into neopets, but I checked in on my old account. I've lost access to it now and I don't think I even have the associated email anymore. I was on a nostalgia trip and saw a YouTube video about neopets and something in it tickled me and I went looking for a forum. Forums to me feel almost like a relic (I don't mean this in a rude way I used to spend a lot of time on forums as a young(er?) kid) (In truth I spent far too much time on the internet in general). Imagine my surprise to find an active one right here!
I am going to make an anonymous admission to you all:
I am in love with all of you and all of this. Something about this tickles me (not in a mocking fashion). I have been struggling and finding this was genuinely beautiful. Something about the concept of this whole thing feels really beautiful to me, and it moved me to legitimate tears (my face still has that feeling of dried tears on it).
I don't think that I was moved to tears by the specific content of this forum so much as just the concept. I know sometimes the internet is miserable but something about small communities like these that still exist on the internet feels genuinely beautiful to me.
I hope that this message finds you well, I truly love things like this. it truly feels like some kind of art.
 
Also for the sake of more discussion I was 6-7 when I played neopets which was around 2001? I did play for a few years. Nonetheless the question I mean to ask is, how old were you when I was playing neopets? how long had you all been playing? Did you maybe get into it after me?

I hope this does not come across as mocking or insincere I am genuinely just emotional about the concept of forums and small communities like this.

I've knocked down about 2-3 more since posting here last, lol. This thread has to be a good luck charm.

Apparently they have become extremely lazy with other languages for item descriptions lol.. I am tempted to switch and look for myself at some of the newer items.

I'm perfectly willing to give it a try, but I'm fairly adventurous with food.  And hey, if it's nasty, don't take a second bite.

I typically find it easier to just solver the puzzle myself than to go back and forth between the solver and the puzzle, but on occasion when the puzzle is extra tedious, will use the solver.

Got a quest for the Fountain Faerie today, was browsing the options.... might regret the choice later, but for today I'm pleased.

So was playing the assorted wheels of luck today, and once again spun the Wheel of Misfortune only to wind up with yet another Headless Von Roo Plushie... and I got to wondering.... who's pulling all the heads off these plushies?   But perhaps more importantly, is there a big pile of Von Roo plush heads somewhere?
 

I came up with this before saw the movie, but that did occur to me.   lot of great lines, but think my fav was when Brock refused to jump back out the window.

It's the zombie pets doing it, they think they can eat plushie brains... nice and soft you see, no chewy bits.

Haha this is hilarious. I just saw the Venom movie yesterday and he goes " pile of heads... pile of bodies..." and I  found that to be my favorite line of his in the whole film. So someone out in Neopia must have this same mind set. Have Symbiotes taken over ?
