I actually can't believe I won, my first gold ?? Thank you so much everyone, I really thought there were others far better but it just goes to show we judge ourselves the hardest. Even though I barely know of Rip van Winkle, that entry and Cinderella were my favourites but I honestly loved every single one. I think I just love fairy tales ?

This was a fun round, congrats to the winners! And thanks guys for the story explanations - mine was Rip van Winkle, and I didn't realize the story was not well known in other countries! And there were a couple here that I wasn't familiar with either, so it's cool we learned new stories from this too! ? I do want to get around to posting my alternative entries, as well...

Yay, fairy tales and stories, such a fun and interesting theme! ? I`ve really looked forward to seeing how everyone solved this challenge, and I must say congratulations on your creativity, and I love the variety of these entries. Little Red Riding Hood was clearly a popular choice, and it`s fun to see different interpretations of the same story and character. Love the wolf/Lupe twists, cool!
I recognize all the stories except nr 5, could someone clear up for me which story it`s based on?

It`s so hard to pick favourites, there are so many strong contenders here, but I have a soft spot for the Pinocchio entry to be honest. ❤️
I love that helpful Zafara pointing at the poor, almost naked Skeith in his "new clothes," wonderful use of that item, lol. Also, there`s finally a chance to use that underwear item!
The Pied Piper one is very nicely done as well, I like the use of swarming petpetpets in place of the rats, and the outfit looks great.
I haven`t watched any of the The Descendants movies, but it`s a nice customization! So many great stories and interpretations. Great job, guys!
 

As most of you have by now realised, I usually don't reply to your message until I'm setting up the round, but I do, in fact, read them beforehand. Usually. So I can answer messages from people who forgot to include something, or who asked if there were any entries similar to theirs. Apparently I didn't read all the messages this time, as I missed one that included the aforementioned question, and the answer happened to be 'yes'. So to give this person time to change their entry, I'm postponing the start of this round, by a week. My apologies! ?
(At this point, it might be a good idea to mention that one particular fairy tale proved to be very popular, so if there's anybody else who wants to know if there are entries that are similar to theirs, now would be a good time to ask.)

Here in Australia, it's not really accepted. Most people roll their eyes when they see Halloween stuff in stores and we're like.. but that's American. I know there are some people who love it here but it's not widely practiced. Even for those who do its usually parties not trick or treating. I didn't know anyone in Australia did trick or treating until I was 18 and moved from a secluded area in my country town to a more suburban area (still in the same town) and a few kids were doing it in our neighbourhood. People who live in different parts of Australia e.g. close to the city might have a vastly different experience to me. But in my experience it's only a fraction as popular as in the US and UK.

Can I clarify, does this mean "faerie tale" as in a Neopets specific thing or a general fairytale? 

I honestly hadn't even thought about Neopets' faeries. Oops. ?
So yeah, I meant fairy tales.
There are still several faerie themes on the list of themes that I have, so I think I'd like this one to be just fairy tales, not faerie ones, to keep it more contained to one theme.
When I think about fairy tales, I think about the Brothres Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. Looking them up, I noticed the Brothers Grimm were described as being "among the first and best-known collectors of German and European folk tales". So I guess they'd be considered folk tales as well. (I think Holland doesn't have any fairy tales of its own either, at least, none that I can think of. Or folk tales, for that matter. ? I grew up with the fairy/folk tales I mentioned above.)
So, to summarise: base your entry on fairy or folk tales, but not on faerie tales.
