I find it completely rude. Among many things with the TP. I ALWAYS, when inquiring about a price, or an offer, thank the person who has the item for their time, in advance. And even then I get ignored at times. I am SO glad that your friend got a FREE healing for the Hissi at the Healing Springs! That's 99.9% of what I do if my pet gets sick. Or, there's always the Healing water faerie on the Wheel of Knowledge. Though spinning only once a day makes that a challenge. ;)
 
There really should be a sticky thread somewhere on trading etiquette! Because you do run into some rude ones out there.
 
One thing that really gets me, is that if you've got a rare item, and say nothing in your wishlist, or say "what it's worth". I'm sorry, but you're GOING to have people asking about price ranges and offers that will vary greatly, because even fansites don't have the up-to-the-minute values. And even then, the seller may have a completely different view on the price they want. People who don't reply to offers, even when they are of a high enough value, but not what they want in items, and thus they refuse to reply. Is also rude. Also, this is the TRADING POST, which means items are intended to be involved, AS IS HAGGLING. Items and Pure!
 
Meh, I've had a number of trade dealings with rude people over the years. Don't mind me, I'm just a bit annoyed hearing about your friend's story kandygrrl. ;) Makes me wonder what the heck is wrong with some people. You will find some incredibly helpful, nice, and/or normal people on the TP too. Even if their asking price is a bit higher than you can justify spending and a trade doesn't happen, it can STILL be a decent experience. ;) Just be polite and fair in your dealings, and you'll never be the "rude" one. LOL

Wow. Not only is that incredibly rude, but your friend only offered 1,000 np below their offer, but included an item they could easily sell for 7,000 and they denied it???

Neopets to me has it's ups and downs, but I guess since I became interested much later on in life and I'm a fan of Sonic and other anthro-animal characters and games that it's a branch of my enjoyment of cartoon/animated animals.
But I CAN understand your frustration and boredom. Jumpstart doesn't really know what to do with Neopets and that is likely part of the equation, the other half is they got rid likely a huge chunk of the TNT team who made Neopets out of their blood, sweat, tears, hopes, dreams, nightmares, time and asparagus.

The glare thing is actually something that Tormund does if idle for awhile. I found it funny when it first happened because him and Roberta seem so happy-go-lucky and then when he was sitting idle one time he twisted the top part of his body around and his eyebrows were furrowed in a glare. It made me laugh actually.

Here's a checklist to help the new Jumpstaff since they seem to be struggling with adding some finishing touches on news posts and events that happen on the site. To their credit, they are starting to become more comfortable and they have gotten better but there are still a few things that could be spruced up:
 
News
News is very important as it adds new content on the website on an (almost) regular basis. It is also very important to have the news page look as fancy and eye catching as possible. The news typically has scheduled releases for each day of the week... so here we go.
 
Monday: Monday usually holds a random new item, poem winner, a new Storytelling winner, pet spotlight winner and Customization contest winners. These three to four things are VERY easy to add into the news. As each contest (should) start anew on Monday, it is also very easy to advertise the winners/start of the new contests and have a complete news release for Monday.

If you are understaffed and cannot pick new winners for spotlights/storytelling/poems, at least announce the new Customization contest and their winners.

Tuesday: Tuesday usually announces either two new petpets, two new plushies or two new morphing potions. As you guess it, you also release the spotlight winners for Userlookup of the Week and possibly the Art gallery. Again, another easy day to have a full news release with minimal effort.

Wednesday: Shocker - two new items are usually released on Wednesdays (plushies, petpets, mps, stamps) and of course it's time to announce a brand new Better Than You competition as well as Site Spotlight, Caption Contest and PPL winner. Again. Easy.

Thursday: I believe Thursdays usually have a new mystery pic and new petpet spotlight. Possibly announce two new items if a pet day hasn't bumped them to another day of the week.

Friday: Again, usually two random items, announce the new beauty contest.

PET DAYS: I cannot begin to stress to you how important these are. Users literally wait 364 days for their favourite species day. DO. NOT. MESS. AROUND. WITH. THIS. The new colours MUST be ready. Don't tease a paint brush. Don't say they are coming and then announce it 5 days later. HAVE THEM READY ON THEIR PET DAY. Don't even begin to think otherwise. Have the preview images be 150 x 150. Not any bigger, not any smaller. Have them activated in the Rainbow Pool as soon as the news releases - not days, weeks or months later. Immediately. Remember, people wait an entire year for this specific day. Make it count because a lot of people are counting on you.

DO NOT PRIORITIZE ANNOUNCING THINGS ON FACEBOOK OVER ANNOUNCING THEM ON NEOPETS.COM. EVER. STOP DOING THAT.
 
EVENTS
When it comes to events, it will be very beneficial to put up a FAQ section somewhere. We understand the help/ticket system might not work at all times, but for the love of Neocola, put up a dang FAQ some place on the website, even your specific Neoboard. It will greatly cut down the amount of tickets you receive and event spam on your Facebook page.
 
Include things like:
how long the event will last (start and end dates) if there are bonus prizes for daily participation what we are required to do when prizes will be available and for how long after the event ends we are able to claim them Don't forget to change the marquees on the front page on the website. These are the first things that people will see when they visit and will want to check out. Make sure it is as up to date as possible because who wants to click on something thinking that it's new, only to find out it's 4 weeks old and no longer exists.
 
NC Mall events
The above still applies. Include retire dates and if there will be bonus prizes.

Yes, the creepy thing is mostly that face on the top, hehe.

A random player lent me nps for the Adam avatar with junk items as collateral, that was nice of him. A few weeks ago someone gifted everyone's quest item on the boards. I may gift an item if its cheap or will if I have it in my SDB, but that was the ultimate in generosity.

So I was playing Neopets: the Darkest Faerie on my PS2 (currently in a save file I'm in chapter 3 which is my favourite AND trying to make 1 million np just because it's fun) and I saw like a speck on the screen, I don't pause the game, I just go up and go try to rub it off the screen.
The speck was a few inches below Tormund's feet on the screen, and I kid you not, while in his "idle standing mode" he turned around and glared at me while I was trying to clean the speck...
I was horribly afraid and backed off. He turned back around and then I proceeded to clean up the speck and then ran to my computer to tell you people

That is super spooky! I've had many a dream about Neopets but nothing as interesting as being watched! Very intriguing indeed!

For normal pet days there is 2 new color combinations available for a pet. There is also a new set of female and male species specific clothes. Since JumpStart took over they dropped the second set of clothing and only released one set. Now pet days are seriously lacking. Clothing is no longer being released, colors are being released late and taking forever to become activated in the Rainbow Pool.
 
I think faerie1811 is correct about the pet day being when the pet was released, but it could also be a day TNT chose to celebrate it. The free pirate training only works for pets level 40 and under.

Pet days celebrate the day the pet was released on the site (correct me if I'm wrong please). Answering the daily puzzle will give the usual NP as well as a pet themed item for whichever pet day it is. Each type of pet can receive free pirates' training on their day. New pet themed items and typically a new color or two for that pet to be painted are released on their day.
 
Much like pet days, other event days give out themed prizes from the daily puzzle as well as releasing new themed items. I don't know much else about them so hopefully someone else can give more details here.

i understand there's still merchandise to be found but much of that(if not all of it)is unsold merchandise from the neopets boom saga(such as old packs of the tcg series and old plushies)i haven't really heard any plans about anyone really looking to promote neopets in anyway similar
 
i guess the problem i have is that i was an active user on the website when neopets was going through a pokemon style boom in popularity i was amazed when they started giving out some tcg cards in cereal boxes it spoke highly about how well neopets was marketed and how big it had gotten when they managed to appear inside mcdonalds happy meals....
 
i just want things to go back to the way they were before the big decline i want neopets to be a known name again and not something i gotta educate people online about all the time

trading cards plushies t-shirts even video games'......were all being produced under the neopets name yet something happened that just destroyed the magic that once made
neopets extremely popular with children and teenagers....what caused the fall of neopets? could it have been as simple as neopets risking it all for a bigger gain or did the neopets boom end because the products weren't selling and with little to no products under it's label it had to be sold out this past year

maybe it's something more than that but i just can't help but think about how neopets seemed like the greatest thing ever when i was 14 years old it had everything and the trading cards just made me super excited(being a tcg freak you might know why)unfortunately i just dropped off the site and forgot everything now that I've returned(email address is no longer active so i can't recover my password) i find a website that is a sickening shell of it's former self...no fun plot driven events no cool tcg games being promoted no t-shirts or plushies just poorly put together neo-cash gimmicks

what happened?! neopets had been on the rise for a long time and suddenly everything just stopped.....i don't even know how neopets can recover from such a fall they were once at the top of their game and unfortunately these days it looks like they'll never return to those glory days without a lot of help

...Jumpstart added a bit of shiny new code to the shops, so that frozen accounts didn't show up in the shop wiz! :D
 
 
What would you love to see happen?

So maybe most of you well informed TDNians already knew this but it has been a watershed for me. I am able to play flash games and do dailies on my nexus tablet, sorry have no idea how this works with other devices, using an app named Dolphin Browser. I added some version of flash too when prompted and I can play games and even use the map. It does require one extra click, a gray screen with a play triangle. For games like Kiko Pop you have to choose difficulty before you touch play.

so i love when numbers run in order, and tonight i just put my 12,345th item in the sdb. they are all different and not one repeat!!!!! im so excited i would quit adding items but i wanna get every single item neopets has to offer and i know tomorrow will bring new ones! just wanted to share this with everyone

Just felt like sharing this story.
 
Over Spring break, I stayed with my aunt, uncle, and 8-year-old cousin. I was in my older cousin's room for the week (she wasn't there) and I found 2 of her old Neopets Magazines. So of course I pulled them out and read through them. My younger cousin came in and asked what I was reading. Next thing I know, I'm showing her the site and explaining it all to her.
 
So a week later, I get a letter in the mail from her. Inside was one of the magazine posters and her drawing interpretation from the How To Draw section. Let me tell you, I haven't felt this happy in a long time. It makes me realize how influential I can be and it gives me hope for the next generation of Neo users.
 
 
 

The new Jumpstaff obvs aren't aware of previously named items and are naming things that already exist. In the past, these are usually changed once it's brought to their attention but who knows with these people. :S

She's way more adorable than the usual Lenny who tells you not to touch the stuff.

I actually was wondering about this myself. I'm not too worried about it, but curious if they're going to try to do something at all.
 
The only thing I would really be worried about is if they mess with codes to try and prank us and end up making things on neopets worse than they are; making the lag worse, the glitches worse, etc,
 
 
What would be awesome is if they announced tomorrow; This whole lag thing was a HUGE prank just for today, it's back to normal!
I want my neopets back to the way it was!

Ever since I joined Neopets last year, I encountered the April Fools' Day prank, now, for most of the users on the site, it's no big deal, but looking back at some of the pranks, I don't think some were so funny or light hearted
When I encountered the Neotax page which was still active it made me anxious because it was asking 100,000 np, and when I read about the Pants Devil stealing everything from users and the mysterious illness prank I started to dread this year.
I'm scared they might take away items, make all the pets invisible, have the site down for the whole day (which would stink because it'll be my usul's birthday tomorrow), taking away all the NC or making the items in the NC Mall 10,000 NC each, or something worse.
I know it should be all in good fun, but I'm worried that it'll be something that will be scary to wake up to and deal with as I try to do my dailies, stock my shop and celebrate my usul's birthday
 
 
Is anyone else here dreading becoming an April Fool of TNT tomorrow or am I the only one and just need to suck it up and say "it is what it is?"
