  1. @chelperk: Thanks for commiserating.

    Have you experimented with DTI?

Oh yes, it feels like endlessly. I love the site, it's a very useful tool for customs. I try a lot of things out but I think maybe I'm just a bit too picky sometimes.

@acquarella: I love your Kougra's custom, it's sort of like a classier take on the "emo" or maybe "goth" theme! Very cute, I do admit I have been eyeing the evening Kougra set. The other custom you came up with is also very adorable. I do like how Kougras are very easy to tie into an island theme, being perhaps the quintessential Mystery Island Neopet.

@WhiteWolf: You have some nice ideas! I've been considering perhaps doing a monochrome Noir sort of theme for Rainbow but it's sort of ruined by those cute cream-ish eyes, ears and bellies Kougras tend to have, unless I changed her color to something like silver or skunk...

What are your favorite sort of themes to do with Kougras? Any sort of Island theme tends to work very easily as I said above, or anything like a hunter or warrior-because of the imagery we associate with tigers, perhaps? They have some nice clothes and colors for that- the pirate Kougra looks dashing with that scar, and the Bold, Adventurer, Warrior Princess, and Winter Ranger clothing sets all suggest a sort of rough-and-tumble character.

  2. I like Kougras. Way back in the day, a blue Kougra was my very first neopet, and I've always had a Kougra. I would probably even go so far as to say they're my favorite pet.

However, since customization has been introduced I've noticed a problem. Kougras seem to be very difficult to customize. Between being quadrupedal (not that I mind this so much but people seem to prefer customizing bipedal pets), a slightly lower amount of good species-specific clothes to wear compared to some popular species, and a certain lack of colors that harmonize with wearable items, the Kougra faces some difficulty if you're not willing to shell out money for NC.

My own Rainbow_Dipped has been wearing her current custom (or slight variations thereof) for years because I can never seem to be satisfied with any custom I can come up with. Don't get me wrong- I like the custom, but it seems a bit too seasonal to wear all year 'round. The Kougra has a certain wealth of outdoors/woods-y style clothes, but I have two pets with similar themes already and would prefer something different. I have considered changing her paint job but I struggle with finding something I really like.

Anyone have advice about customizing Kougras, at all? I'm at the end of my wits here. Also feel free to share your own favorite Kougra customs, even if they're NC or what have you, and ask your own questions about customizing Kougras; all Kougras and Kougra lovers welcome.

  3. I got the Battle Faerie today so elenet you can just be envious of me as the rest of us envy you.

I don't even battle but I figured Knight could do with some stats if the Battle Faerie was gonna offer, and the item was only 1500 np.

Also got The Comma Faerie as my daily little prize.

  4. I'm clicking and feeding on any live pet I can find, in this thread haha.

I made an account because I wanted to support TDN's affiliate, so I'm pulpfreeoj on egg cave, just like on here; feel free to friend me if you are also a TDN person, and feed my eggs of course! I'd be glad to feed yours in return. Sorry if i'm not very sociable, but I'll do my best. Trying to find some interesting/beautiful creatures.

  5. I'm just super excited about these daily prizes, they look so cute. Hoping for the plushes and some books, yesterday I got the Faerie Tracing book. (And even if I don't get one, maybe the price of the faerie eyeshadows will go down even further, I have a custom I want to try out using one...)

  6.

Buttered Rice (I feel this could be either very good or gross)

You've never had breakfast rice? 'Least that's what my family calls it; white (usually minute) rice with some butter and a liiiiittle bit of sugar. Same way I make cream of wheat, actually. It's really good. (Since I started eating healthier I haven't eaten it very often though, but it TASTES good, that's for certain.)

  7. That pastel and the clothes are absolutely adorable, and that zombie is one of the few I've seen that actually looks DEAD, which is a good thing IMO. It also looks like it'd make for a great Frankenstein's monster if you couldn't get a Halloween paint brush for your Tonu.

  8. fairicandy, ameilia and sugarmint all look absolutely adorable, I have a weakness for pastels. You may be right about fairicandy's glasses though. And the wig looks very cute on her, but I don't know if it matches much.

I recently lucked out with a lot of free NC and went a little crazy on getting NC items, especially with the recent sales (let it never be said OJ can't find a bargain/stretch money, even free money, as far as possible!) some of which I don't have a particular use for...

I just finished this custom on knightofearth after AGES of agonizing over the right custom for him, and spending a LOT of neopoints to paint him Woodland. The shirt was on sale from the mall, and I thought it fit perfectly, and naturally the rest seemed to fall into place. I don't particularly like the helmet, but its the best non-Shenkuu helmet available. NP-wise this whole outfit is actually rather cheap besides his paintjob, and I'm really proud of this one but open to criticism. (EDIT: Oh no, his quiver doesn't show up! Here's the outfit page.)

goodwool is sort of the mascot of my needlework/wool gallery, so her custom reflects that. A nice neopian traded me for that lovely lovely sweater which I'd had my eye on even knowing it was a retired craft faerie item; it just fits the theme of her custom so well! Open to changes but i'm pretty happy with this one too.

    medium_preview.png

I don't really have a theme in mind for angorabunny, but I painted her camouflage because camo cybunnies are really cute and had the caplet, so they sort of suggested the rest of the custom. Not particularly pleased with the faerie flute or the shoes, alternate suggestions are welcome.

    medium_preview.png

This is the ideal final custom I have in mind for Tnuq. I know, I know, it's totally frowned upon to use a whole set of clothes, but this clothes set just looks too good I think. I highly doubt I'll ever actually attain the Star Gazing background and intend to substitute the Malicious Dark Faeries one instead, but yeah. Here she is.

    medium_preview.png

Poor Rainbow_Dipped, I have one good Christmas-y custom for her and I struggle for the other 11 months of the year. Really open to suggestions for her, though I'd like to use the shrug, I feel like it suits her coloring very well.

    medium_preview.png

So this one I'm a little ashamed of...I got the background and butterflies during the valentines sale and really wanted to use them, so I came up with this custom and adopted a Ruki in order to implement it. Her name is sehetep and she's not even close to this custom yet because I still have to paint her and get the clothes (if you want to see the ENCHANTING movement in this custom, here is the link), but this is my current vision for her. (I've wanted a bipedal pet for cute custom options for a while though, so adopting a poundstuck pet was a simple choice.) Open to changes but I really think she's very cute.

AND THAT'S IT FOR NOW, sorry for SUCH a long post.

  9. I was wondering if anyone could help me with coding my userlookup. The current code is as follows:

i got this coding from this page (as shown by the credit at the bottom), and I really like how orderly it is and how it looks. The thing is that although I have been a Neopian for a long time my coding knowledge is still very minimal.

I was wondering, can anyone tell me how to tell which part of the code changes the font for each section? Those links at the top are larger than I would like and I would just like to be able to know how to change it so I can customize size, color and font in any section if I want to. Also, can someone tell me how to put a non-scrolling image in all that empty space on the right side of the background? It looks like it was made for that and I would love to put one there.

My ultimate goal is to have this as a base for a common layout for both my main and side account (and any future sides I may decide to make) with appropriate changes as needed, for maximum consistency. Any help would be appreciated.

  10.

oh god. the website. it's so pink today. >_<

I actually really like this theme.

i wish some of these holiday themes were available for more than one day, I really like them.

Anyone else eyeing these items for sale in the Valentines shop of the NC mall for today only? I still have some NC from the lag gifts.

  11.

Every time I see a new color I think "Well doesn't this say 'we are running out of ideas'?"

To be honest, Neopets colors (colours) have always been weird to me. I mean if I saw Starry now for the first time, I would probably think something like that, and that color's old as the hills. Every colour can't be a Royal or a Faerie after all.

Also, I just had the thought that we might see some interesting species variations with this brush like we have for spotted and camo. We might not, and I'd be okay with that too.

  12. I'd just like to say that that image makes me mad because that helmet is a super-rare prize from a Neopets customization contest from way back or something and it's impossible to find anywhere because only like six exist, and I really wanted it for my pet's custom and there's no way I'll ever have it. THAT IS ALL.

  13. Not a huge fan of Zafaras but I like this outfit (that handheld fish oh my goodness) and the Dimensional color looks strangely nice.

You know, I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone with a dimensional pet, do they look nice with the right custom? I figure they'd be ripe for a futuristic sort of theme maybe, or even space, something like that.
