  1. Wow! What an absolutely touching story about getting Kai and his first day in his new home with his new family! Almost brought a tear to my eyes reading about it! Just beautiful! Loved the shot of him on the slide too! XD

  2. Oh come on, the Altador Cup is over this year. What kind of scam are they running here?! Well that almost makes up for it.

  3. Some of you may be aware that my family lost our beautiful Mouse, a 12-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, almost two months ago. She had Cushing's Disease as a result of a tumor on her adrenal gland that turned out to be malignant and spread. She was diagnosed at 11 years old, in September 2018 we found out the devastating news that our sweet girl had limited time left. As the months passed by we were preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. We made sure every special family holiday was made extra special for Mouse. Easter was the last holiday she spent with us. Our family is still grieving her loss and it will take a long time for us to work through the process. Mouse was more than just a pet, she was family! Because of the trauma to our middle child mostly and our other two children my husband and I discussed possibly needing to get another furry companion to help our girls overcome the trauma they witnessed. It's not something they will ever forget! Our middle child has been increasingly agitated to the point of hysterical tears by the smallest of things. I literally cannot leave the room without her hysterically freaking out. Before Mouse passed away, I could come and go as I pleased and she would only follow me around sometimes when she's bored. Lately she will stop whatever it is she's doing, including eating to trail after me. She misses that safety and security Mouse provided her and all of us. Our oldest has been increasingly frustrated with everything and not sleeping well. Our youngest, well she's only 2 so it's hard to know exactly where she's at in terms of her feelings. After searching and doing our homework on certain breeds we found one that would be highly suitable to our family. The temperament of the breed and it's protective nature without being aggressive is what got our attention. Another reason for getting a puppy so soon is my husband may need to go away for work depending on how things go with the company he currently works for. That's a long story in itself! Now if he has to go away, the kids and I will be left home alone for a lengthy time. So a dog would be ideal to offer that sense of security, protection and peace of mind while he's away. We picked up this handsome little guy yesterday! He's a Great Pyranees and will be rather large compared to a small Jack Russel. With his size, people will think twice before messing with our place! A lot of people thought Mouse was a large dog because of the size and volume of her bark, but here she's just a small pup projecting herself as a big pup. Without further ado, here is our handsome fellow! He currently doesn't have a name. I'll update once we've chosen his name. He's a very smart boy! Already whining to go outside! When we went to look at the pups yesterday our youngest was interested in them but she was shy and kept her distance. She's been like that since losing Mouse. I was worried it would take her a long time to bond with her new pal. This was the only puppy that showed any real interest in her. He came up to her and sniffed the back of her jacket and her hand before she pulled away. The others were just not interested in the girls all that much. After being home for a while, our youngest still refused to pet him. She was talking to him and saying "Come on boy!" and showing an interest, but no pets. Not until he followed after her closely and licked the side of her face. He stayed close to her and she reached out to touch his soft fur. The beginnings of a wonderful bond have started! The other two girls have gone to sleep much easier and felt more relaxed at bedtime then they have in weeks. This little guy is going to help everyone heal. He is not a replacement for Mouse. He is just a new family member to be loved. We're not giving him any of Mouse's toys. The only things he has from Mouse is her newer pillow bed that she didn't really care to sleep on and her water and food bowls. The rest of Mouse's things will remain hers.

    Screenshot guide

I figured it might be useful to have a guide about taking/sending screenshots, as DTI often provides images that look a little different from the customisation, and using a screenshot ensures we can use the best possible image for your entry in the Runway. Some things to keep in mind: - I'm writing this guide with an absolute beginner in mind, so some steps might be over-explained. - I'm a Windows user, so I've never personally tested the tips for a Mac. - I've not discussed sending a screenshot from a tablet/phone, as I'm not sure how difficult cropping & uploading it might be from these devices. Here we go: 1. Take the screenshot. In Windows, you can use the print screen (prt sc) button on your keyboard and then crop the image in a program like Paint, or use the snipping tool on your computer. (Just type 'snipping' into the search bar, or press the Windows Key + Shift + S.) You can find more detailed info on taking a screenshot in Windows on this page. On a Mac, you can press Command + Shift + 4. This should make a rectangle appear, which you can drag to the portion of the screen you want a screenshot of. The screenshot should be saved to your desktop once you've taken it. See this page for more info on how to take a screenshot on a Mac. 2. Save the screenshot. In most programs, the save option should probably be pretty self-explanatory for the average computer user (but if not, let me know!). (File -> 'Save As' for Windows programs; the Mac screenshot should've been saved to your desktop anyway.) 3. Upload the screenshot. To be able to send/post a screenshot, you'll have to have a URL for it. Thankfully, there are a ton of sites where you can get one. My personal favourite (at the moment) is https://postimages.org/ as it's easy to use and the colour of the screenshots is really good. You can also use sites like https://imgur.com/ or https://imgbb.com/, whichever you prefer. Most of these sites will have a pretty big 'upload image' button. Click it, and locate your image. After selecting the image, the upload will most likely start immediately (or perhaps you'll have to hit 'OK' or something; it might depend on the site you use). You'll then be directed to a page with a lot of URLs. Use the 'direct link', which should look something like this: https://i.postimg.cc/gJhKqWqw/Barry-the-Time-Sprout.jpg. The important thing is, that it should end in .jpg or .png or another image file format. 4. Send the screenshot. Copy the 'direct link' and paste it into the message (or forum post). TDNs editor should turn it into an image almost immediately (but sometimes you'll need to hit Enter to trigger it). It'll also ask if you'd rather display the image as a link instead (which is how I posted the direct link above), but you can ignore that, as you're looking to post the image. You'll be able to resize the image (although you can only make it smaller than the original image, not bigger) by double clicking the image and entering the amount of pixels you want it to be. (I use 300 x 300 for the entries in the Runway threads (this is also the 'medium' sized image on DTI), so sending an image that is originally bigger than that is fine.) That's pretty much it. If you have any questions, just let me know!

Yes you did request for September. I'll keep it active until you have the required 50 posts on the forums and meet the lending criteria. Our Tonu lender is on vacation right now so I probably wouldn't be able to secure a lend right away anyways. So no rush, it'll be there when you need it. ?

    hello there :)

It took me almost ten years being on neopets, but finally, here I am - registered at the TDN forums! My name is Kate, I'm in my 20's, living in Germany and I'm a university student. Last year during winter, while in the gruesome process of writing my B.A. thesis, I came back to the safe haven that is neo for some rest. What can I say, I got hooked again! Honestly I didn't think I'd ever play neo as actively again as I do now but I'm having lots of nostalgic fun. I also thought that this would be a good time to get more involved in the social aspects of the game, so my current goals are getting to know some active players and maybe start NC trading soon for my dream customs. That's it for now - if you wanna be neo buddies, feel free to send me an invite! :)

  11. According to your Neopets user lookup, you should have 127 "Secret Avatars". Your TDN avatar counter shows 112 avatars. That's a difference of 15. Have you created a "myTDN" account, and if so, have you tried using the "One-Click Import" tool, located here: https://thedailyneopets.com/neoavatars/import Please note, you must have a "myTDN" account, and be logged into your "myTDN" account, to access/use the "One-Click Import" tool. Although it is a great tool for keeping track of your avatars, it isn't perfect. It will show avatars that weren't imported, due to the HTML coding, duplicates, etc, and, unfortunately, you may need to check your actual avatars and update those manually. However, it is a big help in getting most of them. I just redid mine, and it found 299. I have 316, and only had to manually update 17. Give it a try, and let us know! EDIT: Oh, and I haven't encountered that issue before.

  12. Herding sheep as Duma said above. But I think they could be trained to herd other animals too. He has three 2-legged "animals" to herd now ? I say that with love for my girls! They can be quite crazy at times. People always comment on how well behaved and quiet they are. I'm like no they're not, you should see and hear them at home. His fur flattened out and he just looked weighted down by all the water. He looks so fluffy afterwards though. Little bugger needs to get brushed out tonight too. I have this little palm brush that has those plastic type bristles that surround the pins of the brush that help to lift and remove dirt. It also helps with drying too, but I couldn't find it. I think I left it outside on the deck and it's underneath something right now. Mouse LOVED LOVED LOVED her baths!!! Whenever I ran water for the girls I'd have to keep my eyes on Mouse or she would jump in and joy them. There have been several times where I've had to take her out, dry her off, only for her to end up back in the water again. After that, I normally just left her in there and washed her up after the girls were out of the tub. The girls loved playing with Mouse in the water and she loved it too. Ever since she was a puppy she was obsessed with water. Even when watering the garden with the garden hose or watering can/jug I'd have to have her inside while I did that or she'd attack the water coming out, trample all over the wet dirt and be all muddy. After a couple of times, I smartened up and started leaving her inside where she would loudly protest her disagreement with my actions by barking super loud. Normally when I washed Mouse I would use the handheld shower head to rinse her off so I'm not pouring dirty, soapy water on her again. She'd attack that. I'd set it down, with water still coming out of it and she'd turn it over while I'm lathering her up and I'd end up getting sprayed in the face and end up being about as wet as her. When Mouse was a pup we were at my in-law's place. They have a huge dugout/fish pond on their property and had a dock to walk out onto the water a bit. Mouse jumps off and goes into the water. She sinks like a rock and doesn't even bother to attempt to swim. Thank goodness, she was on the leash or my Mr. would have had to go in there after her. I would have been useless cuz I can't swim. Here I'm completely dumbfounded by what she's done. He turns to me and asks where Mouse is and I point to the water. He immediately yanks on the leash and pulls her out. She's completely unharmed and the whole ordeal was less than a minute. Probably 30 seconds max. As Kai gets bigger I'll probably still wash him in the bathtub with the handheld shower wand. Unless he's really dirty, he shouldn't need a bath too often. If it gets to be too much of a chore in the house then we have this large stock tank that the girls will be using for a pool in the summer. Kai can get washed in that outside in the warm months if necessary. Oh yes, Kai has those extra toes on his hind legs! They're so fascinating! I poked my hand with his claw the other night because I forgot it was there. The hind dew claws are something very neat about him. Some breeds have them and they can be a danger to the animal's health if they're injured just do to their overall position on the foot and how far they stick out. My pup when I was a kid had hind dew claws that were surgically removed. He had red bandages on his legs for a while. Kai has his first visit at the vet tomorrow and he gets to meet everyone! He's going for his check-up and boosters. When I talked to one of the techs to make his appointment she sounded excited to meet him. I ran into the receptionist today too and she's looking forward to seeing him tomorrow afternoon. I have to print out a picture card of Mouse and a thank you for them for all they did for Mouse. I think they'll like that. A little bit of appreciation and thanks goes a long way. I'm hoping he's seeing Mouse's vet tomorrow but I'm not sure. We had to get his boosters done between this Friday and next Friday for him to be safe. Since we're planning on visiting my in-law's soon I want him to be fully protected and also they have puppies there too.

  14. Now that would be a smart thing to teach him if possible lol. We currently have those garbage bags with the red drawstrings to tie them up and he's figured out how to open those when they've been pulled tightly. I bought the wrong ones when we went shopping. I don't like the ones with the handles because they don't close properly and always leave a small hole. They judge basically everything lol. I'm incredibly used to it by now and really don't give a monkey's behind. I hope they'll be happy for the girls that they have a fluffy friend to protect them. We'll explain to them why we got him. They might be offended that we didn't want one of their puppies. They have 9 Border Collie Australian Kelpie puppies that are 3 weeks old. But both breeds aren't overly good with children the same way as a Pyr. Border Collie and Kelpie's aren't the sort of dog to be left alone and in the house, they need to be kept active. Kai only needs about 20 - 30 minutes of exercise a day. I hope his cuteness will win them over. ? My 7-year-old went out to check on him and found him laying on her slide. She runs in and grabs my phone to take pictures of him.
